Three Snowy Owls being reported on Amherst Island!

I received an email from Janet Scott, the Bird Lady of Amherst Island that three Snowy Owls have taken up residence on the island. By the time of our tour on there is a good possibility of more Snowy Owls will have arrived. A Golden Eagle has also been observed around the island for the last week. There are also recent reports of Short-eared Owls, Long-eared Owls and Barred Owls.

Discovering Algonquin Park with Authentic Canadian Tours was an absolute highlight of our time in Canada.
It was wonderful to be outside for a full day, admiring the park’s natural beauty and getting a good dose of fresh air and sun. Throughout the day we spotted plenty of beautiful birds, intricate beaver lodgers, squirrels and turtles. There was a 45 minute hike too, with spectacular views over the lakes, bogs and swamps.
Interpretive Guide Lev gave us insider’s knowledge of the park and all its inhabitants and Murray was just as knowledgeable and passionate. There wasn’t one question they couldn’t answer!
It was such a beautiful day – one we will remember for many years to come- and the best day I’ve had in this country so far.
Murray, congratulations and thank you for organizing such a wonderful trip. It was very well organized and amazing value.
We look forward to the next one!

Winter Arrived Today!(well sort of)

Yeah! Finally, we got some snow today in Toronto. Now I know other parts of Ontario have had snow, but we have had it pretty easy this winter. Even the snow we had today is only a small amount, maybe 3 or 4 cms(2 inches, for our American friends)
I am sure that we will be in for a big dumping before this winter turns to spring! At least I hope!

Now Groundhog Day is in only a little over 10 days away. While I am not overly superstitious or truly believe in if he sees his shadow (6 more weeks of winter) or no shadow (spring soon). I do know that spring is just around the corner, even if it is six weeks! And spring is my favourite time of the year, and I can’t wait!!!
